Our Office Policy Regarding Dental Insurance

We are happy to file claims for your insurance so long as we have your insurance information. Make sure you are familiar with your benefits because we will collect the estimated cost that insurance will not pay. We file all claims electronically, so your insurance company will receive your claim shortly after your appointment. You are responsible for any outstanding fees on your account after 30 days, whether insurance has paid or not. If a balance has not been paid within 60 days, a finance charge of 1.5% will be added to the account each month until paid. We are happy to refund any fees your insurance pays that you pay for first.

Please understand, we file insurance claims as a courtesy to you. We do not have a contract with your insurance company and are not responsible for how they handle claims or what benefits they pay on a claim. We can only estimate the cost of what you will need to pay for treatment. We do not guarantee what your insurance will cover with each claim. We also cannot be responsible for any errors in filing your insurance.

Fact 1 — NO INSURANCE PAYS 100% OF ALL PROCEDURES

Dental insurance is only an aid in helping you receive dental care. Some believe their insurance completely covers all dental fees, but this is not true. The average coverage of dental insurance is only between 50% and 80%, with some paying less. The percentage paid is based on your plan and how much you pay for coverage and what sort of contract your coverage is under.

Fact 2 — BENEFITS ARE NOT DETERMINED BY OUR OFFICE

Insurance companies sometimes reimburse you lower than the actual fees from your treatment. Insurance companies frequently cite their usual, customary or reasonable fee (UCR) as being lower than what is charged by actual dental offices. We do our best to give you the best price we can, but we cannot decide what your benefits will cover.
